High Expectations

When I was a professor at Azusa Pacific University, I was asked to assist a student with her research. She wanted to expose Hollywood’s unrealistic, high expectations for romance. I disagreed with her premise.

She held to her bias and moved on.

Romantic movies illustrate Our Dream of Loving & Being Loved. But most importantly, those expectations far from being too high. Those expectations are actually way too low!

Love in The Kingdom is based on a Higher Standard.

Beginning with the fact that The Holy Spirit is intimately involved. If you want Him to be, that is.

Because Love is a Fruit of His Presence in your life.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-7

  1. Dr Smith, How did you know exactly what was on my mind? I no longer want to settle for less in my marriage and I agree with you that the possibilities for happiness are limitless! The expressions of love included here are beautiful. Yet I am unskilled in my expression and I worry that I will once again set my husband up for failure and that he will see me as criticizing him if I try to tell him what I want for us. That’s why I made an appointment with you for some expert guidance!
