Childhood Memories

Being from a divorced family was much more unique in the 1950s than it is now, and apparently something for a child to be ashamed of. I didn’t realize that until my Bluebird Troop visited our local radio station when I was 7. The announcer engaged in a live interview with each of the girls. Continue reading

Taken

Our subjective experience doesn’t always align with what really happens. What we experience & remember — not reality itself — determines our mindset. That is, until we encounter another mind-changing experience.

I was born a blue-eyed blonde who was the apple of her daddy’s eye. But shortly before I turned 3, my mom packed her friend’s car with some essential belongings & left town with my older brother and me … while my dad was at work. He had no idea what was coming. None of us did.

All these years later, I still find myself telling people that my dad left me. I still have a hard time connecting with the fact that I was actually taken from him. Because the result was profound. An indelible imprint on my personality & my self-concept.

Self-Assessment

  • What life event has had the greatest impact on your self-concept?
  • What was that impact & how is it still affecting how you do life & love?
  • How is The Holy Spirit helping you overcome any negative mindset you’ve been carrying with you?

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
& release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
& the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
& provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
& a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair. ISAIAH 61:1b-3a

“Look! I’m making everything new. Write it all down—each word dependable and accurate.” REVELATION 21:5

Sparkle & Shine

You are significant & all that you do matters. The Power of God’s Presence surrounds & fills you with Beauty. You are not like any other woman who has ever lived.

You have many sisters, but your life — your person — is a unique Jewel in the Crown of Jesus. He bought you back from destruction. Now you belong to Him. So take your rightful place in Him & determine to sparkle & shine. A Beautiful Reflection of His glory & blessings.

  • Sparkle with & to the Glory of The Lord.
  • Shine His blessings upon everyone who enters your presence.

This is your identity. This is who you are.
Nothing can pull you away from this God-given mission.

Dream with God

It’s God’s Dream, you know.

  • That man & woman would live as one in Him.
  • That together they’d rule over all Creation.

He placed His Dream in your heart, too.

  • So don’t give up.
  • Dream with God &
  • Celebrate His Presence.

God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it — not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply & gently within us. EPHESIANS 3:20-21

A Red Letter Day

I lost my favorite pen. Which happens a lot. So I went scrounging in my oversized pencil holder & found my old red pen. Writing with a red pen was common practice for me in years gone by – as a student & technical editor, then as a professor. As I thought about using red ink in my journal, it occurred to me that today must be a Red Letter Day. Continue reading
